Winning feeling
David Templeton would be delighted to score more goals like his screamer against Hamilton on Saturday - but stressed winning is the most important thing.
The winger smashed Hearts into a 2-0 lead at New Douglas Park with Jim Jefferies' side going on to record an impressive 4-0 triumph over Billy Reid's side.
The former Stenhousemuir ace has impressed this summer and is looking forward to trying to establish himself in his manager's plans.
A few more strikes like the first-half stunner at the weekend will do him no harm, although the 21-year-old insists the team's success is all that matters.
Speaking at today's pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Elgin City in the second round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup, he said: "The goal against Hamilton was probably the best I have scored and hopefully there a few more to come this season.
"Last season I was hampered by injuries for most if it so I'm just hoping to get off to a good start and try to prove to the manager that I should be in the team.
"It's always good to score goals, especially at this level, but I'd rather take three points every time."
With the Highlanders propping up the Third Division at the moment after losing their first three games of the campaign, nothing less than victory will suffice tomorrow for JJ's men.
And Temps reckons a decent cup run can have a positive effect on the squad for the remainder of the season.
"If we get a few good results in the cup then it will help give us more confidence and that would only be good for the team," he said.
"It's been a good start to the season for us. I think we have gelled really quickly and we have a few more guys to come in who have been injured or suspended so that's good.
"Last season we lost a few silly points against teams we should have probably won against so it's important this season we pick up those points and we'll see how it goes. If we are up there at the end then it will be great."
