Hearts today issues an update following Saturday's issue with ticketing and stadium access before the game against St Johnstone which affected a very small number of supporters in the crowd of 14,562.

The club has conducted a comprehensive review, examining the reasons behind every single supporter who was denied entry with their smartcard.

Issues have now been resolved and the club is confident that the next Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixture against Dundee United will be a successful day for all Season Ticket holders.

Two matters arose on the day:

Season ticket seats that had been sold as a matchday ticket - This arose as a result of a software error with Ticketmaster's system. This has now been rectified. Following the decision to suspend all ticket sales on Saturday, sales have now re-commenced with the club entirely satisfied that this issue has been fully resolved. A number of supporters who have purchased match tickets for forthcoming games will be issued with new match tickets. This number is extremely low, at less than 100 tickets over several different matches.

Supporters attempting to enter the stadium with an old smartcard - A number of supporters (just over 100) had not received their new smartcard and many attempted to enter the stadium with their old smartcard. Any supporter who sits in the lower sections of the Main Stand, Wheatfield Section A (lower only), and a number of season ticket holders in the Roseburn Stand received new smartcards. New smartcards were also issued to supporters who changed seats, moved into or out of a concessionary sales band (i.e. became an adult or became a concession).

A club spokesperson said: "Saturday was a frustrating day for some supporters affected and we're sorry for that.

"There were a number of different reasons why supporters were denied access to the stadium.

"In particular where a supporter's seat was sold to someone else as a result of a software failure we apologise for this.

"What also became clear was that some supporters attempted to enter the stadium with their old smartcard, as in a number of cases their new one did not arrive in the post. We're sorry that some supporters did not receive these.

"The vast majority of smartcards were sent out towards the end of June following the bulk of this year's sales. Its very unfortunate that some supporters did not receive their smartcards and we'll be working this week to ensure everyone has exactly what they need to access the Dundee United fixture."

The club is to also proactively check with the supporters affected that they have the correct smartcard with emails to go out (to those with a registered email address) and telephone calls to be made (to those we do not have a registered email address for) over the next week.

This is not to suggest that these supporters do not have the correct smartcard but more to check and reassure them.
