Women to the four
Hearts Women kicked off the second half of their league campaign with an emphatic win against Cowdenbeath Ladies in Glenrothes.
The Maroons, who gave a debut to recent signing Suzanne Jackson, started brightly and were quickly on the offensive with Borthwick, Kidd and Rogers all trying their luck with long range efforts, but against the breeze the Fifers keeper was not troubled.
The visitors eventually broke the deadlock with 34 minutes on the clock. Borthwick evaded two tackles as she charged forward before slipping the ball to Rogers who smashed a 20-yard shot into the net.
After the break, Hearts picked up from where they had left off and went chasing a second goal but before it arrived they had a scare at the other end when a breakaway by the Fifers saw their striker clean through on goal with only Milby to beat but the Hearts keeper pulled off a magnificent save diving low to her right.
Hearts made the most of that escape when they doubled their lead moments later when Piaskowski blasted home from 25yds. With their tails up, No. 3 three arrived within minutes when the keeper could not hold a shot from Borthwick and Kidd was on hand to knock it into the empty net.
The hosts pulled one back with a well struck shot from 12yds but this was to prove to be no more than a consolation goal as the best move of the match ended with Hearts' Wilkins finding the net after good work down the right involving Kidd and Borthwick.
After the match, the visitors' captain Kim Borthwick said: "I thought we played well and deserved our win. The big difference for me was how we gelled as a team and helped each other out all over the park. We will have to do that in all our matches before we can start to climb the table."
Hearts Women: Milby, Gill (Cunningham), Johnston, Campbell, Buchanan, Kidd (Fraser), Borthwick, Paterson, Jackson (Hurst), Piaskowski (Wilkins), Rogers (McGovern).
