Tynecastle's red hot atmosphere sold Darren Barr on his move to Hearts, the Scotland international revealed today.

Unveiled officially as a Jambo this morning following his pre-contract agreement, the former Falkirk captain can't wait to play in front of the Gorgie faithful.

"Every time I have been here the atmosphere around the place has been brilliant and the stadium played a big part in me coming to Hearts," he said.

"More than anything, that was the thing which attracted me to the club."

The 25-year-old agreed to swap the Bairns for Hearts before Csaba Laszlo left at the end of January and while admitting to being surprised at that development, the change on manager has not altered his focus on doing well at his new club.

Touted as a possible future captain, Darren shrugged off such suggestions and insisted he is only interested in nailing down a regular place under JJ.

"It was a surprise when Csaba Laszlo left the club but it didn't change the fact I was coming here. I have since spoken to Jim Jefferies and he's been very reassuring," he said.

"It is a step up for me and having spoken to Elvis, he was very positive about the club and it was all good.

"I'm a Hearts player and the only thing I am interested in is doing well for the club. I just want to keep my head down and kick on with Hearts. I've not even had a training session here yet so just want to concentrate on doing well here.

"With the players we have here and the potential at Hearts I don't see why we can't be challenging at the top of the table. With Kevin Kyle having signed as well it's all very positive."

Darren was deployed as a centre half and right-back at Falkirk but he stressed today that he doesn't care where he plays, as long as he gets a game.

"I'm at a big club now and wherever the gaffer wants to play me, I'll be happy just to be out on the pitch," he said.

"I am only interested in knuckling down and making an impression."

On Hearts.TV today, Darren talks exclusively about his move to Gorgie.
