Hearts starlet Arvydas Novikovas tasted international action with Lithuania for the first time this week - and is hungry for more.

The Tynecastle youngster made his debut at senior level in the friendly in the Ukraine and although the 4-0 defeat for Raimondas Zutautas' side took the shine off his big day, the Gorgie teenager is keen to stay involved on the big stage.

Although capped for his country at U21 level at the age of just 16, this week's appearance in Kharkov has shown the 19-year-old what can be achieved if he continues to perform well for Jim Jefferies.

The winger started the midweek friendly, being substituted after 57 minutes of the clash.

"It was an exciting occasion for me and a very proud moment for me and my family," he told Hearts News.

"I think I could have played better, though. The boss told me after the game to keep my chin up and that's what I'll do and I hope to get another invite to play for the national team next time.

"If I can keep doing as well as I can at Hearts, then that will hopefully give me the chance of playing more games for my country."
