HNT: Marius' Euro vow
Captain Marius Zaliukas today vowed to make up for Hearts' Euro agony by securing qualification next season.
Despite Jim Jefferies' best efforts after taking over earlier this year, the Jambos were pipped at the post in the race for a UEFA Europa League spot.
While disappointed to miss out, the Lithuanian international is determined to see European action return to Tynecastle as soon as possible.
"We all want to play in Europe," said the centre-half.
"It is a great experience and with a lot of young players at the club, playing in these competitions would be a great benefit to them.
"It was a big disappointment not to make it this season but next season we will be trying our hardest to make sure we qualify. That is where a club the size of Hearts should be looking at."
The 26-year-old netted his side's final goal of the campaign with his equaliser against Celtic on Sunday, although the Glasgow side went on to take the spoils with a second-half winner.
"It was good to score especially after making a mistake at their first goal," he added. "The result was the main thing and that was a disappointment as we really wanted to finish the season. But I thought we played well for a lot of the match and we took a lot of positives from the game."
On Hearts.TV today, exclusive interviews with Marius and Larry Kingston as they look back on the season.
