Gary's goal
Gary Glen helped gun down Hibs at Easter Road - and would love to repeat the feat at Tynecastle tomorrow.
The striker sealed the Jambos 2-0 Scottish Cup win over the Leith outfit last season, the second-half strike the pick of his derby-day highlights to date.
Having impressed boss Jim Jefferies in the closed door friendly against Kilmarnock this week, the front man is primed for another crack at the Hibees when John Hughes brings his side to Gorgie.
And he would like nothing better than to open his league account for the season in tomorrow's sell-out lunchtime clash.
"It is a big match for us and a great one for the city," he told the broadcast media at yesterday's pre-match press conference.
"You don't need anyone to hype you up for a derby. If you need that, then you shouldn't be there as you don't know what it's all about.
"I've heard it's a sell-out so it's going to be a great experience as well and it means a lot as it is the gaffer's first derby since coming back to the club.
"It was a great experience to win at Easter Road and score as well. If I'm involved this time I'll be looking to do the same.
"We'll be looking to do our best, try to win the game and then try to catch Hibs."
The 19-year-old suffered a dip in confidence under former boss Csaba Laszlo but is beginning to feel more like his old self thanks to the presence of the new management team.
"My confidence has been down a bit but the boss, Billy and Lockey have been doing their best to build it up again," he added. "I'm delighted they have come in and I'm doing extra training to get my fitness back as well.
"I feel better about myself and I think everyone has had a lift since they came in. The atmosphere has changed in the dressing room, everyone is a lot happier and we're all looking forward now to cementing our place in the top six and then progressing from there."
Gary and his fellow front men have been working closely with John Robertson recently, the Gorgie legend having volunteered his services to help improve the strikers' sharpness in front of goal.
Yesterday was his latest session at Riccarton and Gary added: "We can't sit here and blame anyone for not scoring. It's down to us to score and we have to keep our heads down and work hard.
"It was good working with Robbo, pretty much just on shooting for the whole session last week, and it has helped build the confidence. It's a massive help for us and it was great to have him in here."
On Hearts.TV today, Jim Jefferies and Gary Glen look ahead to the derby showdown.
