David Templeton might have scored against Motherwell, but the winger's mere consolation goal barely registered for the Hearts starlet, when he reflected on defeat at Fir Park, last night.

Temps struck a well-worked goal after 68 minutes, but by that time the game was arguably lost, with Hearts players scratching their heads at the manner of the defeat, and in particular the defending for the Steelmen's three goals.

"It was a really poor start," the former Stenhousemuir youth acknowledged. "Coming away from home we wanted to get a good start, and keep it tight. The goals were really bad defending by our standards.

"It is really important to bounce back and hopefully we can make the supporters feel better next week."

Jim Jefferies did not mince his words with the media after the game, but he was only echoing a view he had shared with his players.

"He was disappointed especially with the way we lost the goals and the start we had," David admitted.

"We are usually really strong at the back. Losing the goals like that so early in the game was really disappointing."

Now after recovering from a foot injury that has kept him out of much of the season, Temps is hoping to get himself a regular run in the team - particularly after impressing in recent cameo appearances.

"You want to play every game, especially when the team is losing," he said. "You want to try and help the team get back into it.

"I have not had the best of seasons out there, I have been injured for about six months so I just want to get games and try and get my sharpness.

"I feel really comfortable around the players and since making my debut last season I have played a few game since, so I feel part of the team.

"I think he [Jim Jefferies] will give me a chance and the way he likes to play suits me as well so being a winger hopefully I will get my chance under him."
