Hearts boss Jim Jefferies today confirmed the club is to appeal the red card given to Larry Kingston against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The midfielder was dismissed by referee Willie Collum for his challenge on Fraser Fyvie just minutes into the second half of the Jambos' 1-0 victory on Saturday.

Most observers felt the Ghana international was very unfortunate and JJ said today he's hopeful the appeal will be successful.

"I have looked at the challenge from every angle today and at all times Larry's eyes are on the ball so I feel it definitely merits an appeal," said Jim.

"I don't think there was anything intentional about the tackle. His foot was in the air as he was trying to control the ball which was coming down and there was certainly no malice in the challenge. Their player might have made a meal of it as he was up running about like a two-year-old afterwards and there might have been an element of crowd influence, too.

"But I saw the incident with Liam Miller of Hibs and he rightly had his red card rescinded so I am hoping for common sense in Larry's situation as well."
