Ryan's ready to give more
Ryan Stevenson last night admitted he's loving life at Hearts - but promised the club's supporters there's even more to come from him.
The former Ayr United man has become a key player in the early days of Jim Jefferies' second coming at Tynecastle.
By Jim's own admission he would have preferred to ease the midfielder into action, but injuries and suspensions have meant an early opportunity for Ryan.
And again he did not disappoint yesterday, brilliantly setting up the opening goal, before playing a crucial part in the second as Hearts secured a 2-0 win over Hamilton.
"Coming in it has been difficult, moving up and getting to know the players coming from where I have come from," Ryan admitted at the post-match news conference.
"I knew the boys at Ayr inside out, and coming to Hearts, a club of this size, I obviously wanted to get in and show what I can do.
"I was disappointed with the way I played [against Hamilton]. I know it is going to take me a wee while to get used to the players and the players used to me, and getting use to the stadium.
"I am used to playing in front of 1,500 people so it is obviously a big step up to play here every second week.
"It was important for me to get a goal or get involved in the goals so I am happy to get involved in the team."
Ryan revealed that Jim has told him to focus on doing exactly what he does best, brushing aside any comparisons to the likes of Colin Cameron.
"He said to me that it will take me a while to get used to the team, but he's just said to go and do what I did at Ayr, because that is why I am here," Ryan continued.
"I am not trying to change anything. I will be listening to them and working with the players of the standard we've got will make me better.
"I did not know the gaffer too well, but since he's come in with Billy and Lockie they have been excellent and breathed some fresh air into the team and long may that continue."
