Kello save the turning point - JJ
Jim Jefferies tonight highlighted Marian Kello's outstanding save to deny Flavio Paixao as the key turning point in today's win over Hamilton.
And the Gorgie boss revealed he was considering taking off first goal-scorer David Obua moments before he headed Hearts in front.
A 2-0 victory was secured, courtesy of goals from David and returning David Templeton, the three points deservedly staying at Tynecastle despite a battling performance from the Accies.
Indeed it was Hearts first Clydesdale Bank Premier League win by two goals this season, and maintained the home side's unbeaten home run against Hamilton, since 1978.
"It was all about the first goal," the manager told his post-match news conference. "The turning point was when Marian had a great save at 0-0 and we went straight up the park.
"I have to say I did not think big Obua started the second half as I wanted and I was very close to subbing him.
"Ryan Stevenson made a great run and a lot of people would have played the ball but he took a touch and waited for support and David has met it sweet. It gave him a lift and his confidence was up a bit."
Jim was also pleased with the contribution of Laryea Kingston on his return to action for the first time since the 0-0 draw with Dundee United before Christmas.
Most of the home crowd gave him a warm reception, and the Ghana international responded by getting stuck into a couple of tough tackles, passing the ball well and fizzing in two good efforts on goal.
"After the second goal we put him on for an extra man in midfield," Jim revealed.
"He has to use the time between now and the end of the season to show he can win the fans. I will be kicking his backside in training to make sure he is."
Jim, who also identified that he was pleased with the performance of Dawid Kucharski, revealed that Suso Santana was forced from the field with a thigh problem, which will be assessed during the week.
