Hearts boss Jim Jefferies today praised the Gorgie faithful for the rousing reception given to him and his new backroom team of Billy Brown and Gary Locke before Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Falkirk.

The trio were introduced to the crowd moments before kick-off against the Bairns at Tynecastle, the fans responding with thunderous applause.

The feel-good factor continued at full-time with JJ having recorded his first victory since returning to the club as manager, goals from Lee Wallace, Suso and Ian Black helping to defeat the basement outfit 3-2 - the first time this season Hearts had hit the back of the net on three occasions.

"It was a great reception and we were all determined not to let it fall flat," said Jim today.

"It wasn't just about the reception coming home it was about making sure the Hearts supporters were pleased with some of the performances.

"That happens when a new manager comes in but it's my job to make sure they perform consistently well and that the fans leave Tynecastle having seen the team be prepared to be a bit more positive.

"The early games were thrust upon us and it was nice to hear that in the short space of a fortnight the feedback is the fans are encouraged by seeing more chances created and goals being scored."
