U19s: Hearts 0-2 Rangers
SFA Youth Cup: Hearts 0-2 Rangers
From Hearts News at Tynecastle Stadium
Hearts U19s exited the SFA Youth Cup following a quarter-final defeat to Rangers here at Tynecastle, this afternoon.
Ultimately the visitors secured victory with goals from Kane Hemmings and Kamil Wiktorski - one in each half.
Watched by manager Jim Jefferies, sport director Alexandr Metlitski, assistant manager Billy Brown and with first team coach Gary Locke in the technical area this was certainly a club affair with everyone out to lend their support to the Wee Jambos.
Although coach Darren Murray would rue his side's inability to put Rangers under telling pressure, many of the club's most talented U19 players are currently involved in the first team, with his line-up on average a year younger than Billy Kirkwood's.
Indeed only Gordon Smith and Conrad Balatoni were involved from the group currently working with the senior squad.
Rangers hit the front after eight minutes, when Kane Hemmings rounded Dean Lyness and slotted home from a tight angle.
And they doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second half when Wiktorski headed home a hotly disputed corner-kick to seal the victory.
Hearts best effort came from a terrifically well struck Danny Thomson shot which Grant Adam pushed around the post.
