Andrew Driver last night admitted he's very keen to speak to new Scotland coach Craig Levein about the possibility of playing for Scotland.

The new national boss has admitted a strong interest in the Hearts winger, and for the first time the 22-year-old has revealed he's very keen to have a conversation, and soon.

"I would obviously like speak to Craig Levein," he said after the defeat to St Johnstone.

"I hold him in high regard he was my first manager in my career. I am definitely hoping to speak to him in the next two weeks.

"With him in charge it will help motivate my decision in the right way."

Meanwhile, the wing-king confessed it had been a whirlwind 24-hours at Hearts, following the departure of former manager Csaba Laszlo and the return of Jim Jefferies.

But for Andrew, like all players, it's simply a case of keeping the head down, and focusing on a new set of instructions.

He also revealed that he's excited about working with one of Scotland's most highly regarded managers of the last two decades.

"Obviously I have not had much time to think about it," he said. "I was just happy to get the appointment in early. It means there is no unsettled period early. Time will obviously tell.

"We had a quick meeting with him last night and a pre-match meal with him today. It has been a bit hectic. The players were just concentrating on the game today.

"It came out of the blue. I did not learn about it until I got a text message saying I had to go down to Tynecastle yesterday. Things have picked up but these things happen in football. You never know what's going to happen and you can't get involved in politics and play football.

"He is obviously a legend at the club and someone that a young player like me would like to work with. He's got bags of experience and with the young players in the team now they can only learn from him."

Andrew refused to become embroiled in a discussion about former boss Laszlo's tactics, with one journalist raising the issue that some supporters had not enjoyed the brand of football played.

"As I said we are professional footballers," he stressed. "Our job is to go out and do what the manager tells us. We played a system that the old manager liked. That was Csaba Laszlo's system. We tried to abide by that. I think the new manager might have different views on that and we have to do what he would like."
