Hearts goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald today confirmed he will be out of action for up to eight weeks after tearing ankle ligaments.

The Jambos star suffered the injury in training on Tuesday and subsequent hospital X-rays have confirmed the bad news.

Although frustrated and disappointed at his misfortune, the keeper told Hearts News Today that things could have been worse.

"The scans have shown that I have torn the ankle ligament, which isn't great," he said.

"I will be looking at six to eight weeks out and that's a real downer. But I don't need an operation which is a bonus so I'll be working hard with the physio to get back as quickly as I can."

Jamie's setback came just a matter of days after he performed so well in the second half at Hamilton after replacing the injured Janos Balogh.

"It really is Sod's Law," he added. "I was delighted to get my chance at Hamilton and then this happens.

"But there are people worse off than me and I just need to try to make sure my rehab goes well and try to get over it as soon as I can."
