Dawid determined to take opportunity
From Hearts News in Barsinghausen, Germany
New boy Dawid Kucharski is determined to make his move to Hearts successful, having ventured out of Poland for the first time in his career.
The 24-year-old made his debut in Tuesday's win over Goslar, and has impressed many since his arrival at the team's training camp here in Germany.
Dawid also identified Hearts participation in next season's UEFA Europa League as a key factor in his decision to make the move to Edinburgh.
"It's very good for me," he said. "This is my first time out of Poland and I have joined a very good team with a very good coach. I know the Scottish league is of a very good standard and it is a hard league with good players.
"I have come to Hearts because, for me, I feel it can make me a better player in the future and improve my career.
"It was a big decision because I played for Lech Poznan for three years before going to Amica Wroncki. I made this decision in one day because my agent also told about the standard of Hearts.
"He also told me that I may not get another chance as good to make a move from Poland.
"To make myself a better footballer, I had to try and move away from own country and experience new things.
"I need to see a new team, a new city, play for a new team and work for a new coach. For my future, playing at Hearts can make me a better player."
Hearts will enter the new UEFA Europa League at the play-off stage, looking to secure a place in the group stages.
Dawid has experience in Europe, something he is keen to repeat in maroon next season.
"Playing in Europe was also an important factor," he added.
"When I was at Lech Poznan, we played in the UEFA Cup and last year we made to the group stages and then went beyond that.
"We played Udinese, but, although we were a good team, we then lost.
"Hearts now have the opportunity to go to the group stages and that would be a good thing."
Dawid also revealed that he spoke to Celtic goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska about moving to Scotland. His opinion of Hearts was extremely positive.
"I know Artur Boruc, Lukasz Zaluska, Adrian Mrowiec and also my good friend Grzegorz Szamotulski," he said.
"I telephoned Lukasz after I had heard from Hearts and I spoke with him about the move.
"I asked him all about Hearts and Lukasz spoke very highly about the club. He said they were very good, it's a very nice city in Edinburgh and I must go to Hearts."
