Sometimes in life a change of plan is required, and that was the case tonight here in Barsinghausen after Hearts second training session of the day was interrupted by a spectacular rain storm.

Never one to be put off by such problems, fitness coach Tom Ritchie abandoned the core stability planned session and instead took the players off on a jog through the forest around the edge of the town, as our pictures from SNSpix show.

The heavy canopy afforded the players some protection from the horrendous conditions.

Tomorrow the players prepare with a morning session ahead of the evening trip to Hamburg, which is about two hours away.

St Pauli provides the opposition, and a crowd of about 5,000 is expected at the Millerntor Stadion, including a likely small but noisy group of Hearts supporters.
