Managing director Campbell Ogilvie will represent Hearts at this year's annual pilgrimage to Contalmaison by the McCrae's Battalion Trust.

The remembrance service to honour those who fell on the first day of the Battle of the Somme on July 1, 1916 takes place in the French village tomorrow at 11am.

Despite being top of the league at the time, 13 members of the high-flying Hearts squad signed up for the 16TH Royal Scots - McCrae's Battalion - at the outbreak of the Great War.

A stone cairn was erected in 2004 in honour of all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and the monument will form the centrepiece of tomorrow's service.

"It is important for Heart of Midlothian Football Club to uphold the memory of our players and supporters who gave their lives at the Battle of the Somme," said Campbell.

"I am honoured to be going as part of the official party as we pay our respects and remember the selfless acts of so many."
