Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo has identified a number of players as potential signing targets - but stressed the club will not pay over the odds as he sets about building a new side for next season.

With the first team returning to Riccarton next week before heading to Germany on July 6 for a training camp, the Tynecastle chief is working hard to bolster his squad.

Csaba recently returned from a positive meeting with Vladimir Romanov in Lithuania where the pair discussed players for the forthcoming campaign and he is optimistic of making successful moves into the transfer market - on the club's terms.

Speaking to Hearts News this afternoon, he said: "I spoke with our owner and we talked about players who I think can help us.

"He decided we must do something and I hope in the next days we can get somebody. It is important to have new players in before we go to the training camp.

"The pre-season is there to build the team and allow the players to get to know each other and we must try to build a new team.

"I don't give my contacts out but from Argentina to Uzbekistan I have people I talk to."

Ian Black has already penned a new deal after leaving Inverness Caledonian Thistle and the Hearts boss is optimistic further fresh faces will follow.

"What happens all depends on the money," he added.

"You can get a player for 20 million Euros and also a very good player for nothing, who you can sell for 20 million. Definitely we won't pay more than we have to for someone but if you like to qualify for Europe you need experience, not just young players, and for this we try to bring a mixture.

"There is a lot of players looking for clubs but there isn't a lot happening in the transfer market in Scotland at the moment and everybody is looking to see what will happen after Setanta.

"But we are working hard together to have a good team for next season for the supporters."
