Erskine ambassador tackles West Highland Way
Hearts official charity partner for 2009-10, Erskine, is backed by some remarkable people and none more so than ambassador Chris Moon who will be running the West Highland Way this weekend to raise money for Erskine.
The run will be a real challenge for Chris, who aims to cover the distance of 96 miles in under 30 hours.
It's a challenge not only because of the wild terrain but also because Chris, a former Army officer, lost his lower right arm and leg when he stepped on a landmine whilst working for a charity in Mozambique in 1995.
Within a year of leaving hospital he had successfully completed the London Marathon and since then he has tested artificial limbs to new limits, run most of the world's toughest ultra distance races, climbed mountains, crossed countries on foot, written books and most importantly used his experience to understand and illustrate the process of achievement.
These days Chris runs with the Strathaven Striders. He is looking forward to the challenge of the West Highland Way - although he's watching the weather with some trepidation. It won't be easy running over 96 miles of soggy ground on an artificial limb!
Supporters are today invited to sponsor Chris online by credit or debit card via his justgiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/chrismoonruns
Justgiving sends donations straight to Erskine and automatically reclaims Gift Aid from a UK taxpayers.
