Robbie reflects as Hearts career ends
Robbie Neilson last night reflected on an undefeated end to his time with the club as Hearts battled to earn a 0-0 draw at Celtic Park.
With Celtic trying to win a fourth Clydesdale Bank Premier League title in a row the match was not supposed to be about Hearts but the men in maroon turned in another performance that cemented their belief that they are yet again Scotland's third force.
The Leicester-bound skipper led out the Hearts side for the final time as he, and his teammates, finished the season in the same manner as they have played all season: staying solid in defence, tactically disciplined throughout the side and fighting for every inch.
"I thought we played well," the captain said. "We sat in and defended well and had a good shape again.
"I thought we might have had a good shout for a penalty but 0-0 was a good result for us as we had a lot of young players in the team which can only be good for the future."
Before he sets off for a new challenge south of the border Robbie had some kind words for a club and it's supporters who he has given 100% for in every minute of every match for over a decade.
He said: "I thought the fans were great today and they were singing my name at the end there. It's only taken them 13 years so I was delighted with that! But seriously, the fans have been great all the way through my career.
"It has been a great honour to play at Hearts and to ultimately captain the team has been magnificent. I wish them all the best in the future."
