Robbie confirms departure
Heart of Midlothian Football Club today announce that Robbie Neilson has signed a pre-contract with Leicester City.
The long-serving defender, who arrived at Tynecastle from Rangers Boys Club in the summer of 1996, will join the Foxes on June 1.
Captain of Hearts since the departure of Christophe Berra in January, Robbie told Hearts News it was a difficult decision to finally leave the club he served with distinction for 13 years.
"I have really enjoyed my time at Hearts and would like to thank all the supporters, staff and players who have provided fantastic support to me over the years ," he said
"It's an extremely difficult decision leave a club which has been such an influence on my career and Tynecastle will always hold a special place in my heart.
"I'd like to wish Hearts every success in the future and hope the club continues to progress to the ultimate goal of league glory.
"Once again, thank you for your fantastic support over 13 unforgettable years of my career."
Robbie follows former Hearts stars Mark de Vries and Patrick Kisnorbo to the Walkers Stadium, while Craig Levein also left Tynecastle to take up the managerial reins at the ambitious Coca-Cola Championship side.
Robbie played a key role in helping Hearts win the Scottish Cup in 2006, and was instrumental in helping the Jambos qualify for the Europa League this season.
He also gained his first Scotland cap during his career at Tynecastle when he started the European Championship qualifier against Ukraine in Kiev in October 2006.
