Kurtis Byrne put Hibs ahead late on only for Scott Robinson to score an injury team equaliser.

Darren Murray's side settled better in the early stages, looking fluid and mobile going forward. Of note there was a deflected effort from Scott Robinson whilst Craig Thomson smashed one in from a long-range tight angle.

Arvydas Novikovas nearly caught out Lewis Graham with a long range free-kick from the right hand side, too, his left-foot effort viciously swinging in towards the back stick.

Hibs were kept at bay for much of the opening 45 minutes. Kurtis Byrne's long range shot was dealt with by 15-year-old Jack Hamilton. David Crawford's shot was also handled efficiently by Hamilton.

Scott Smith should maybe have headed Hibs in front on the half hour mark but the defender bulleted his header over from Patrick Dean's corner kick.

Hearts finished the half strongly, enjoying a number of opportunities. Novikovascame in off the right to set up Ryan Wallace from 16 yards, but the striker fired over.

Hibs keeper Lewis Graham then pulled off a superb save before from Arvydas Novikovas, who lashed a shot from inside the area, only to see it pushed clear of the on-rushing Wallace.

And Scott Robinson again tested Graham moments later, this time chipping the Hibs No. 1 who stood equal to the task in hand.

Hibs had the first chance of the second half but Moyes could only head Byrne's flag-kick over the bar.

The home side then enjoyed a good period of possession and opportunities. Stewart set up Wallace who was nearly through on goal but Graham came out to smother.

Arvydas Novikovas did have the ball in the net minutes later but he was flagged correctly offside,

The Wee Jambos were coming closer though. Next up, Deland's short throw found Novikovas. He flicked it to Robinson, but the youngest ever Clydesdale Bank Premier League player blasted wide on the turn.

Skipper Stewart then set up Robinson for the best chance of the night, through on the Graham, but he could not get the touch he needed to score.

And Hibs made the Jambos pay the price, by smashing home a wonderful opener. The Easter Road side's talisman Kurtis Byrne was the hero lashing home a long range effort.

Hearts attempted to respond through Ryan Wallace, by now playing down the right. His mesmerising run into the area past several defenders was fantastic, but his end-product went over the bar.

Byrne could have doubled his tally for the night late on, but the striker could only chip over by Hamilton stranded at the end of his penalty area.

Novikovas was then denied an eqaliser by a brilliant block after the Lithuanian winger shimmied his way into a shooting position from five yards out.

Wallace then game close, heading Deland's cross over the bar. By now it looked like Hearts would rue the missed chances of the night as the rain lashed down upon Tynecastle.

But, right at the death Scott Robinson finally did what Hearts had threatened to do, scoring with a cool finish after being put through on goal!

With the match tied a penalty shoot out took place. Byrne missed for Hibs and Deland who Hearts, who had the chance to seal the tie. Every other kick was score, but for Jonathan Stewart who put over. Hibs won it 7-6.
