Discpline was very strong
Csaba Laszlo last night hailed the discipline of his team after victory over Barclays Premier League side Hull City at Tynecastle yesterday.
Hearts secured the win courtesy of an Audrius Ksanavicius header, after tenacious play to regain the ball, and an excellent delivery from Ruben Palazuelos.
Looking solid, fit and organised, few would have disliked what was on show in Gorgie as Hearts prepare to start the new season not short on optimism.
Speaking after the game Csaba said, "I am happy about the result and you must take confidence from the last game. It was a very important win for the team. We have now one week and we can now work a little bit easier.
"The team spirit and discipline was there. The speed [fitness] was very high and this is the most important thing.
"If you don't have the physical condition you cannot think clearly. Slowly he players understand what I mean. The tactical discipline was the most important thing."
Csaba admitted that he still wants to see his team take more of their chances.
"We need more killer instinct to score," he said. "Normally a good player before he scores concentrates with his body and muscle to put the ball in the net. In this department we must work harder.
"I am unhappy that we lost the ball in the offence too early. We had some problems with the ball control, to keep the ball, and to take time. We wanted to hurry everything. We can talk for two hours about this, but if we won every game 1-0 then this is ok!"
Having seen his team deservedly win the manager admitted Hearts are not there yet. "I am not satisfied," he cautioned. "We have a lot of work to do. I am satisfied at the end of the season if we reach the target that we have.
"After winning a game you can never be satisfied. It is important to know we have potential. It is important to talk about mistakes and maybe it is easier after you win a game."
The manager admitted he's continuing to look at possibilities for new signings, but that he wants to build up the confidence of the players and not overly criticise those currently in his pool.
"If we talk all the time about new strikers then how can you explain to your strikers that are in the field that they are bad at that you need a new one?" he said. "I give the confidence to the strikers that we have.
"We need more quality and competition but definitely I don't want to talk about new players, I want to talk about the players we have. If your boss said every day 'I would like to get a new journalist' then you would say 'what is wrong with me?' and you would lose confidence.
"Jamie Mole, Juho, Gary Glen and Christian Nade must come back and show that they can play football. Maybe they did not have a coach that could believe in their talent.
"Today we played a very good tactical game, we had discipline and we scored. This is the first step."
