A good start
From Hearts News in Belfast
Csaba Laszlo was satisfied with last night's work out with Glentoran here in Belfast - despite a penalty shoot-out defeat at The Oval.
The new boss watched on as his charges led through Saulius Mikoliunas, before being pegged back near the end of an entertaining game in Northern Ireland.
"For me, what was important was the 90 minutes," he said afterwards. "We did not lose the game, we dominated, but at the moment we are in pre-season.
"In the last two weeks the team worked hard without the ball. In the last training session we took the ball and we started to make the new tactics.
"We changed a lot of players and a lot of players came on into the game. We must not just look for the results but we must look to take back the confidence and change the face of this team.
"With hard work and concentration we can go with a very good team in the league. The most important thing is to learn from the mistakes from today."
The Romanian-born manager recognises, after just one weekend in maroon that Hearts supporters, and Scottish football in general, has huge expectations of the Tynecastle men.
"Yu must know that Hearts is the oldest club in Edinburgh and at the moment we must be the number one in Edinburgh," he said.
"The second wish I have is to go back to international football in Europe. We must not talk about first, second, third.
"The coach that promises something early does not think real. At the moment this team is eighth position in the league and we must go higher."
And Csaba promises that he'll look to use every mechanism possible to create a strong united Hearts team for next season, admitting that he's already aware of the team's strength and weaknesses.
"We will mix a little bit of creativity with strong-ness, discipline with innovation and every time the success can be there," he explained.
"Within ten minutes you see where you have a weakness. After ten minutes you see whether a player has confidence or not and whether a player would like the ball or not. I don't think you need three weeks for this!"
Andrew Driver was replaced before half-time in last night's match as a result of a tight calf, with Hearts' medical staff opting to take no risks with the left-winger.
