HNT: Captain to miss last two games
Captain Christophe Berra is set to sit out Hearts' final two Clydesdale Bank Premier League games of the season to avoid triggering a two-match suspension.
Having received five yellow cards during the current campaign, the Tynecastle skipper is just one caution away from the ban.
With Kilmarnock visiting the Capital this weekend before the Jambos bring the season to a close against Gretna at Fir Park on Tuesday night, caretaker manage Stephen Frail does not want his influential captain walking a suspension tightrope with little at stake in the remaining two matches.
Christophe will therefore sit out his side's last two games, although he will be involved in Sunday's testimonial match for Robbie Neilson.
"Christophe is just one booking away from a two-match suspension so I don't see the point in risking him between now and the end of the season," Stephen told HNT.
"Any booking he might pick up would see him miss the first two games of next season and that is something we want to avoid if at all possible.
"His season is far from finished, though. He will play in Robbie Neilson's testimonial game on Sunday and he is obviously in the Scotland squad for the friendly against the Czech Republic at the end of the month when he'll be hoping to win his first cap."
Midfielder Ruben Palazuelos will miss the first game of the new season after going through the disciplinary threshold with his caution against Falkirk.
Striker Gary Glen, meanwhile, will continue to be closely monitored ahead of the Killie clash.
The forward suffered a badly bruised calf in the defeat from Falkirk on Monday evening and although he is improving, he is set to be the subject of a late decision.
Fans are reminded that to celebrate the end of the season the Heart of Midlothian Superstore is hosting a huge sale with prices on hundreds of items starting from just £1. The sale takes place in the Gorgie Parish Church on Gorgie Road, just next to the Gorgie Stand entrance.
First team players not involved in the game against Kilmarnock will be on hand from 1pm in the church hall to sign autographs and pose for pictures.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available now - and will be right up until kick-off with prices starting between £6 and £18. Click here for more details.
