It promises to be a busy week for Hearts boss Valdas Ivanauskas as he seeks to bring in new faces. Numerous options are being considered and Valdas is hoping for good news as he bids to bolster his squad.

"I'm not in a position to say anything more just now but hopefully I'll know more by the end of the week," he told Hearts World today.

The immediate future of Jamie Mole could also become a lot clearer in coming days, with Valdas revealing that two Bank of Scotland Premierleague clubs are interested in a loan deal for the youngster.

The striker was reported to be on his way to Livingston but Valdas said today: "Livingston is not the only option. There are also two clubs from the SPL interested.

"It is important for Jamie to play regularly and I'm currently in discussions with other managers about him. Again, I hope to know more by the end of the week."

The same applies to Juho Makela who is currently in Germany with a view to playing in the Bundisliga until the end of the season.

Valdas prepares for training

Valdas has also expressed his hope that both Nerijus Barasa and Mirsad Beslija will be fit for the league run-in.

Barasa injured an ankle against Celtic on Sunday, while his team-mate was left in agony after dislocating a shoulder in training.

"We are probably talking about four or five weeks for both of them," he said. "Mirsad has been very unlucky. He was close to the team but now must stay very strong."

Fellow-defender Robbie Neilson is also looking at a month on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery. "Robbie is a hard man so maybe in three weeks he can start training again," said Valdas.

Valdas, meanwhile, has shrugged off the disappointment of the loss to Celtic and turned his focus on retaining the Tennent's Scottish Cup and grabbing second place in the Bank of Scotland Premierleague.

The Hearts boss was left hugely disappointed after Gordon Strachan's side came from behind to snatch victory at Tynecastle, the defeat leaving the Jambos five points adrift of Rangers in the race for the Champions League qualifier berth.

"Our target has to be second place and to win the Scottish Cup again," he said. "That would be great for the fans and they are so important to us that they are like a 12th man on the pitch.

"We will be trying to win every game. I know the quality we have and of course I think we can get second place."
