John Murray

Hearts Director of Football John Murray was born in Derry, Northern Ireland.
He first came to Scotland as a 16-year-old, where he worked in Edinburgh as an apprentice manufacturing engineering
The 55-year-old was chief scout at Cowdenbeath and Falkirk before Jim Jefferies brought him to Tynecastle in season 1995-96 where he worked part-time as the club's head of youth development and chief scout.
John was appointed academy director almost five years ago and has helped unearth some of the country's most promising young players.
John's role was expnaded in December 2011 when he became Director of Football, which sees him involved in the recruitment and transfer process across the whole club, from the youths through to the senior team, as well as maximising the development of all players at Hearts.
